Chris Cillizza to Politicians: Don't Tweet
Cillizza writes:
The lesson proved by Gingrich and Shurtleff is that any medium that encourages instant reactions dashed off on a BlackBerry or iPhone and condensed into 140 characters is a recipe for disaster in the political arena.
And on Saturday night Guy Who Has Been on Twitter for Four Years opines he doesn’t get Twitter, as if to echo what people who started blogs in 1996 thought about personal blogging, say eight years ago — it’s only for people to announce to the world they they are taking a shower or something along those lines.
I’m gonna say three things. It’s kinda cool sometimes to be aware of people you care about and annoying to get incessant updates from those you don’t. Micro-communication has a niche that people may have difficulty finding, including me, but it’s been along longer than Twitter(tm). And it wouldn’t be so annoying if people would just use it or not use it instead of talking constantly about using it. That is all.
