One of the commentators on a GGW story already pointed this out, but look at the (unscientifically) estimated Metrorail ridership outside the city core. The Glenmont end of the Red Line, the southern ends of the Yellow and Blue lines, and every line terminating in Prince George’s County are paper thin. That’s a lot of expensive transit infrastructure and capacity that’s just not being used.
